UTILITIES
In addition to the main systems, a set of utility programs is provided to further enhance the programming environment and reduce the time required for system management. The major utility programs are :
The Data Transfer Utility guides the user through a set of questions and then produces a fully compiled program that can transfer, manipulate and summarize records in a single database or between two databases. This utility is especially useful for developing programs to load data from outside sources such as magnetic tape or comma delimited files.
Works provides a set of utilities to maintain sets of logicals and symbols for different environments such as test versus production or multiple customers with separate sets of databases on the same computer. These utilities allow a single username to run both interactive and batch jobs for the different environments.
This utility allows a convenient method of associating usernames to print queues based on their location (i.e. print to the nearest printer.)
