July 2007

Dear Client,

Hope you had a nice June. We did here—no significant problems to report.

What did surprise me last month was the loss of two clients—not that we don’t have turnover, but that both clients left due to someone offering them services that we provide here and at a very reasonable cost. That tells me we aren’t doing a great job of marketing—explaining what we offer to you.

First and foremost, I believe our best service that we offer is the experience we have accumulated of over 35 years in the computer field. We have been in the Internet Service business for over 12 years and are happy to share that knowledge with you. If you need something we don’t or can’t provide, we’ll tell you we can’t and try to find you someone who can. This sharing of knowledge is rare in an increasingly commodity-based field.

While we still provide connectivity, that service has been driven to the phone companies. So we have concentrated on other services such as web and email hosting, web development—from static information-only sites to ones with databases attached to them, ecommerce sites, and search engine optimization. These require a good amount of skill and we have had excellent results for our clients.

For companies needing to get on the Internet safely, we also offer the same box that protects us and is very easy to maintain. It can even host your website and email, among other things.

If you believe you could benefit from any of these, give us a call. We’ll be happy to fill you in and explore what can be done for you.

On a personal note, the tomato garden did, um, much better than expected. While we did have attrition, the ones that flourished more than made up for the others. I thought I would never see this happen, but we are almost out of canning jars…and we have over a 100. The sunflowers we planted to shade the tomatoes from the western sun have also done well. You can see images of both at http://www.webworldinc.com/northgarden. Nothing fancy but it will give you an idea. The tomatoes on the sink were from one pass through the garden.

Later this month I won’t be much use for phone calls on July 21 st. I’ll try, but don’t expect much, as I will not have gotten much sleep that night. This is the release date of the last Harry Potter book and well, let’s just say I really hope nothing goes wrong with the servers. ;-)

Hope you all have a great and safe 4 th of July!

Sincerely,

Ben Conner
