April 2007
Dear Client,
Hope you survived April Fool’s day. Nothing odd happened here, so that’s a good thing. Murphy must have been asleep or taken the day off.
This last month we had a couple of good hard rains. Normally this would have triggered an outage, but we kept going with no issues. Perhaps Qwest has finally found and corrected the root cause of the connection issue we had last year.
We have talked about the components of an online store in previous newsletters and the different options that are available. The store packages we have here we developed ourselves some time ago and, well, they show it. Compared to features of your most advanced stores, it’s obvious it takes a staff dedicated to enhancing the products to give the most features and flexibility, and we just don’t have that much time to devote to the care and maintenance.
So we began looking around for a commercial product that met the high standards we expect and also gave you the options you need in today’s online environment. One store stood out well above the rest. It is well supported and the author has an excellent user base, so the support is there to continue enhancements. We are now proud to offer the CF Webstore package developed by Mary Jo Sminkey. You can read more about its features at www.cfwebstore.com . As we read through the documentation, there wasn’t one additional thing we could think of that wasn’t already in there. Rather impressive. Give us a call if you’d to see what a current state-of-the-art store can do for you.
On a personal note, taking care of two acres is a non-trivial exercise. The tomatoes and pepper plants were ready to go in the ground here and I decided to dig holes 1’ deep and 1’ in diameter, and replace the soil with premium planting mix. The plants are placed on 3’ centers with 6’ between the blocks of rows. You can see the layout at www.webworldinc.com/connerfollies/northgarden.pdf. That was a LOT of work, even with help. They seem to be happy, so we’ll see if they can mature before the summer sun turns them into sun-dried tomatoes.
There are a number of holes left, so I’ll probably fill those with various vegetables such as okra, corn, and other plants that grow tall.
Hope you have a great month!
Sincerely,
Ben Conner
