- Academy of Certified
Hazardous Materials Mangers
ACHMM is a membership organization dedicated to fostering
professional development through continuing education,
peer group interaction, the exchange of ideas and
information relating to hazardous materials management.
- Agency
for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
ATSDR is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services. They feature a search engine to
ferret out articles and reports on their www site or in
their data base which deal with hazardous materials,
toxic substances and diseases.

Hygiene Association
AIHA provides information on Occupational and
Environmental Health and Safety issues. Founded in 1939,
this organization is dedicated to the anticipation,
recognition, evaluation, and control of environmental
factors arising in or from the work place that may result

The ANSI Federation's goal is the enhancement of global

API provides technical services and related public policy

Association
APHA is the oldest and largest organization of public

Commission
The U.S. Congress directed the CPSC to "protect the
public against unreasonable risks of injuries and deaths
associated with consumer products." This is where
you will find out that the "Lighted Magic Faucet
Mugs" have been recalled due to fire hazard. A real
bummer for coffee lovers who like their brew so black
that they need a light to see it. A great site.

A part of the CES at the University of Illinois, the
Disaster Resources Web Site provides access to
information on disaster preparedness and recovery. They

DAT is one of the largest scientific departments at
Brookhaven National Laboratory. You'll find here monthly
summaries of chemical
safety occurrences compiled for the DOE. Also here is

The Office of Environment, Safety and Health is the DOE's

search engine that allows you to search
